A highly regarded school is seeking to appoint an exceptional and committed Assistant Head Teacher to join their dedicated leadership team in a specialist ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) SEND school for pupils aged 4–19. This is a pivotal leadership role for a highly organised and student‑centred professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs. The successful candidate will provide strong operational leadership across the school, ensuring excellence in practice, consistency, and high‑quality provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on attendance, operational oversight, and robust data tracking and validation systems
  • Provide behaviour support across phases, working closely with Phase Leaders and the Pastoral Team
  • Ensure quality assurance of non‑negotiables, maintaining high standards of practice across the school
  • Work operationally ‘on the floor’ across all phases, modelling best practice and supporting staff
  • Lead on the operational aspects of SENCO responsibilities, ensuring effective provision, documentation, and compliance
  • Support the implementation of Behaviour Plans, EHCP outcomes, and individualised strategies
  • Contribute to whole‑school development planning and continuous improvement
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students

About You

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial experience working within SEND and/or ASC settings
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and operational management skills
  • Has a deep understanding of EHCPs, SEN processes, and SEND legislation
  • Is confident in using data to drive improvement in attendance, behaviour, and outcomes
  • Has experience supporting or leading behaviour and pastoral systems
  • Is proactive, resilient, and able to work effectively across multiple priorities
  • Can build strong relationships with students, staff, families, and external agencies
  • Is committed to inclusive education and improving life chances for young people with SEND
