New Directions Social Care are currently recruiting caring, reliable, and dedicated Support Workers to work across a range of care services in the Aberdare area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work across a variety of care and support settings, providing high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with diverse needs. As a support worker, you will play a vital role in helping a variety of needs. You’ll provide compassionate support, while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing in a range of care environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support
- Assist individuals with personal care where required
- Support people with daily living activities, including meal preparation and household tasks if needed
- Encourage independence and help individuals achieve their personal goals
- Accompany and support individuals with community access, appointments, and social activities
- Monitor individuals’ wellbeing and report any concerns promptly
- Maintain accurate records and complete daily documentation
- Follow safeguarding procedures and promote a safe, respectful environment
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a professional and compassionate approach
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in a support worker, care, housing support, hostel, mental health, or related role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working various shift patterns.
- Commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and equality.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience working within supported living, homelessness services, hostels, mental health services, or substance misuse settings.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or a related qualification.
- Mental Health Awareness, Safeguarding, or Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
