A fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to start their professional life with a supportive employer. We are keen to appoint an apprentice Civil / Structural engineering technician at our Oxford office to help them develop their knowledge and skills and join our team in a technician role on completion of their apprenticeship.

Wage: £15,600 for the first year, may increase depending on age, in accordance with National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day within core office hours 8:30am – 6pm, 37 hours 30 minutes per week.

Duration: 3 years. Apprenticeship will commence on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Training: The apprenticeship includes specialist training and study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Key learning outcomes include:

  • Apply civil engineering principles, techniques, and methods to construction processes.
  • Collect, analyse, and evaluate data to support engineering models and designs.
  • Operate CAD/BIM software to create technical drawings and models.
  • Apply statutory health, safety, and welfare regulations.
  • Support the production of civil engineering solutions in accordance with industry standards.
  • Apply environmental policies and sustainable principles.
  • Plan, manage, and review own work with quality assurance and cost considerations.
  • Consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in project delivery.
  • Maintain document control processes and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively using appropriate methods.
  • Apply ethical principles to data and information use.
  • Maintain and review professional competence through CPD.

Requirements: GCSE in English (grade 4 or equivalent) and Mathematics (grade 4 or equivalent). Share any additional relevant qualifications or industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adapted to reflect prior knowledge.

Skills: Interest in buildings and construction, motivation and eagerness to learn and develop.

About the employer: We are a firm of consulting structural and civil engineers, designing structures, drainage and paved outdoor surfaces for projects including schools, offices, hospitals, and residential developments.

27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays. Access to the Government Cycle Scheme. Travel season ticket loan if required. Travel expenses to/from college covered.

Career Progression: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate will be promoted from Apprentice to Technician. Opportunities exist to continue remote learning and progress toward Senior Technician, BIM Manager roles, or further engineering qualifications, opening promotion paths to civil or structural engineer.
