New College Swindon is looking for a Lockdown Technician to play a vital role in securing our campuses and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is 29 hours per week (Monday & Friday 2.15-7pm, Tuesday-Thursday 3.30-10pm).
You will:
- Secure college buildings at the end of the day, including setting alarms and checking all areas are clear.
- Act as the out-of-hours contact for fire or intruder alarms on a rota basis.
- Conduct routine checks on fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other safety systems.
- Support room setups for events, meetings, and teaching spaces.
- Report maintenance issues via our service desk (JIRA).
- Act as a fire marshal and ensure fire exits and corridors are clear.
- Liaise with staff during lockdown procedures and support emergency protocols.
You will need:
- Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Maths, English & ICT (or equivalent).
- A flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work across both campuses and attend site within 30 minutes if called out.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
- Manual handling and first aid qualifications.
- Experience in a similar facilities or security role.
- Familiarity with working in a customer-focused environment.
