At New College Swindon, we\’re on a mission to support every learner, not just academically, but emotionally and mentally too. That\’s where you come in.

We\’re looking for a compassionate, qualified, and quietly brilliant Counsellor to join our Evolve team. You\’ll be the go-to for students in our Evolve and Evolve Plus programmes, offering therapeutic support, guidance, and a safe space to talk things through.

What you\’ll be doing (besides being amazing!):

  • Deliver 1:1 and group counselling sessions for students facing everything from exam stress to emotional trauma
  • Support staff with advice and strategies to help students thrive
  • Collaborate with external professionals – GPs, therapists, social workers – to build a strong support network
  • Keep meticulous, confidential records
  • Champion mental health and wellbeing across the college

To apply you will need:

  • A professional Level 4 counselling qualification (BACP or UKCP accredited)
  • Experience working with young people (especially 16-19 year olds)
  • A calm, empathetic presence and the ability to build trust quickly
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for student wellbeing
  • Level 2 English, Maths, and ICT or willingness to gain during employment

Desired but not essential:

  • Experience in educational settings
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding, GDPR, and PREVENT
