As an Apprentice Production Technician at Itel Electronics, you will gain hands-on experience in a specialised production environment. You will work alongside experienced technicians to learn the skills necessary to manufacture, assemble, and inspect/test cable harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies whilst gaining your Level 3 qualification.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the setup and operation of equipment for cable harness and electro-mechanical assembly production.
  • Participate in structured training programs to learn essential production techniques and procedures.
  • Manufacture assemblies using a range of tools in accordance with IPC-620 acceptance standards.
  • Assist in the assembly, soldering, wiring, and testing of electronic components and systems.
  • Perform visual inspection and electrical testing on a range of assemblies in accordance with industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, test results, and quality checks.
  • Identify and resolve issues with cable harness and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and quality standards.

Where you’ll work: UNIT 1, WARWICK HOUSE, EDISON PARK, HINDLE WAY, SN3 3RB.

Training includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying at NEW COLLEGE SWINDON.

Your training course is Engineering technician (level 3), equal to A level. All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum:

  • Level 2 Foundation competence qualification (Practical units broad-based skills).
  • Level 3 Development Competence qualification (Practical work-based units).
  • Level 3 Development technical knowledge qualification (Theory-based units broad-based knowledge).

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to taking EPA. End Point Assessment includes a Portfolio Based Occupational Competence Interview (Viva).

The opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience of various maintenance disciplines from an experienced team is expected after this apprenticeship.

Requirements: GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (grade 4 or above). Ideal candidates are eager to learn, detail-oriented, and have a strong interest in manufacturing.
