Do you thrive on supporting staff, shaping curriculum, and helping young people achieve outstanding outcomes? This role is perfect for an experienced, high-performing Sixth Form teacher who\’s ready to step into leadership. You will be driving quality, supporting staff, and ensuring our learners receive an exceptional post-16 experience. You\’ll balance your time between leading people and teaching (50% timetable), staying close to the classroom while influencing the success and direction of the Sixth Form curriculum. What you\’ll do:
Lead and inspire Sixth Form curriculum teams, providing ongoing support, development and performance management
Manage day-to-day Sixth Form operations, including cover, open evenings, parents\’ evenings and taster events
Drive improvements in student progress, achievement, destinations and overall Sixth Form experience
Shape the Sixth Form curriculum offer to ensure it is relevant, ambitious and aligned with progression pathways and local needs
Embed strong quality assurance processes and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement
Monitor KPIs, retention, predicted achievement rates and attendance β€” ensuring accurate reporting and targeted interventions
Deliver high-quality Sixth Form teaching, modelling excellent classroom practice
Work closely with students, parents/carers and support teams to remove barriers to success
Celebrate Sixth Form learner achievements and promote a positive, aspirational culture
Champion safeguarding, behaviour and welfare across the Sixth Form
Deputise for the Head of Faculty when required
What we\’re looking for:
Proven experience delivering high-quality teaching in a Sixth Form environment
Strong understanding of post-16 pathways, assessment, and academic/vocational progression
Experience coordinating programmes or shaping Sixth Form curriculum
Evidence of leading or contributing to successful quality improvement
Level 5 teaching qualification and Level 5+ subject specialist qualification
Excellent communication, organisation, coaching and leadership skills
Confidence in making decisions, solving problems and supporting staff
Ability to analyse data to inform planning and interventions
A proactive, positive and student-centred mindset
Commitment to the college CAREs values and to outstanding post-16 provision
