We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Developer and Platform Administrator to take ownership of the College’s ServiceNow platform and play a key role in delivering the College’s wider digital transformation agenda. ServiceNow is a strategic platform for the College, supporting not only IT service delivery but also the digitisation and automation of processes across the organisation. In this role, you will design, develop and maintain workflows, integrations and automations that modernise how services are delivered, reduce manual effort, and improve the experience of staff and students.

Working closely with the IT Director and senior stakeholders, you will act as the College’s technical authority for ServiceNow, helping to shape how the platform is used to support operational efficiency, data-driven decision making and sustainable digital change across a multi-campus FE environment. This is a hands-on role offering long-term ownership of an enterprise platform, with real influence over how digital services evolve within a public-sector organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the College’s ServiceNow subject-matter expert, providing technical leadership and strategic advice.
  • Lead the configuration, development and continuous improvement of ServiceNow modules, workflows, catalogue items and automations.
  • Use ServiceNow to digitise and streamline business processes, supporting the College’s digital transformation objectives.
  • Manage platform administration, including upgrades, security, performance, technical debt and housekeeping.
  • Design and maintain REST API integrations with systems such as Entra ID and iTrent.
  • Enable and improve identity lifecycle automation (joiners, movers and leavers) and cross-system data flows.
  • Work with service owners and stakeholders to translate operational and transformation requirements into technical solutions.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, design standards and support materials.
  • Collaborate with Information Security to ensure the platform is secure, compliant and aligned with data protection requirements.
  • Contribute to wider College responsibilities, including safeguarding, equality, GDPR and cross-College digital initiatives.

About You

You will be an experienced ServiceNow Developer or Platform Administrator who is comfortable operating at the intersection of technology, process improvement and organisational change. You will bring:

  • Strong hands-on experience developing and configuring ServiceNow, including JavaScript.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs, working confidently with structured data such as JSON and XML.
  • An understanding of identity and access management, including Entra ID / Azure AD.
  • The ability to analyse existing processes and design solutions that improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

You will be comfortable taking ownership of a strategic platform within a governed FE environment, balancing innovation with stability and control. Knowledge of ITIL practices, development life cycles and structured change control is important. Experience with PowerShell or SQL, and certifications such as ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Application Developer (CAD), are desirable but not essential.
