The Role

We are seeking a practical, proactive, and customer-focused Facilities Operative to join our Facilities team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and takes pride in creating a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.

Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will support the smooth operation of our campuses, carrying out maintenance tasks, assisting with facilities services, and helping to ensure an outstanding experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of college buildings, furniture, fittings, and equipment.
  • Undertake basic maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical work, painting, decorating, and carpentry.
  • Carry out porterage duties, room setups, furniture moves, and support examinations and events.
  • Maintain external areas, including grounds maintenance, litter collection, drain clearance, and ensuring safe access during adverse weather conditions.
  • Support mail room operations, goods deliveries, ID card administration, and facilities helpdesk requests.

Who You Are

  • Have experience in a facility, maintenance, caretaking, or building services role.
  • Possess practical skills in basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel between campuses when required.
