New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a Trainee Tutor to support children and young people with SEND and inclusion needs across Newham. This role is ideal for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in tutoring, SEND, or alternative education.

You will work 1:1 with learners who may have SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or who are disengaged or excluded from mainstream education. Sessions take place in community-based settings such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provisions.

Mandatory Training Requirement

All Trainee Tutors must complete a compulsory training programme before working independently:

  • 30–45 hours of structured training
  • Learning modules, guided tasks, and assessed activities
  • Covers SEND, SEMH, ADHD, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and nurture-led tutoring
  • Ongoing support throughout training
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1, nurture-led tutoring to children and young people
  • Support engagement, emotional regulation, and learning progress
  • Plan and adapt sessions in line with individual learning plans
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners
  • Monitor progress and communicate with families and professionals
  • Work flexibly across community and alternative settings
