About New Chapter Tuition

New Chapter Tuition is a specialist tuition provider working in partnership with local authorities, Virtual Schools and education provisions to support children and young people who require personalised education outside mainstream settings.

We are seeking experienced GCSE Tutors to deliver high-quality, face-to-face, 1:1 tuition to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The Role

You will provide structured, engaging and personalised tuition to learners working towards GCSE qualifications, with a particular focus on English, Maths and Science.

Many of our learners have experienced disrupted education, school-related anxiety or barriers to accessing mainstream education. Building trust, confidence and positive learning relationships is therefore essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 GCSE tuition in English, Maths and/or Science.
• Plan and adapt lessons in line with individual learning needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
• Support learners working towards GCSE Foundation or Higher Tier qualifications.
• Conduct baseline assessments and identify gaps in knowledge.
• Develop learners' confidence, engagement and examination skills.
• Use educational tools and platforms to support learning and monitor progress.
• Complete weekly progress reports, attendance records and learning updates.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers and New Chapter Tuition's support team.

Requirements

Essential:

• Previous experience teaching or tutoring GCSE-level subjects.
• Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or school-related anxiety.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learning needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and safeguarding awareness.
• Commitment to consistent, face-to-face tuition.

Desirable:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or relevant degree.
• Experience supporting learners with EHCPs or Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) packages.
• Knowledge of AQA, Edexcel or OCR GCSE specifications.
• Experience supporting learners who have been out of education for extended periods.

Working Arrangements
