New Chapter Tuition is proud to be working exclusively with a specialist vocational education provision to recruit a Behaviour Mentor for a full-time, permanent role. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing specialist provision supporting learners from KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, emotional and behavioural needs, and those who have experienced trauma. Through practical, hands-on vocational learning, you'll help learners rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed in further education and employment.
The Role
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
- Support learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 8, delivering engaging vocational learning.
- Support learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND and additional needs.
- Use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote confidence, resilience and independence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to achieve positive learner outcomes.
About You
This role would particularly suit candidates with experience in:
- Armed Forces or Military Cadet Forces (Army Cadets, Air Cadets, Sea Cadets or Combined Cadet Force)
- Alternative Provision
- Youth Work
- Learning or Behaviour Mentoring
To be successful, you'll have:
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supporting children and young people, particularly those with SEMH, SEND or additional needs.
- Confidence managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Resilience, empathy and the ability to build trust with young people.
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes and helping learners achieve their potential.
