The Trustees are looking to recruit to the post of Outreach Worker at the Springboard Project, Oldham Town Centre. The position is part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust and is dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality education for young people aged 14-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role will form a key part in expanding our Adaptive curriculum offer; you will provide face-to-face mentoring, tutoring and support to students who are struggling to access traditional educational settings. You will work independently on a case-load of students, deploying various skills and techniques to support young people to become re-engaged with their education. You will be part of a team of intervention workers under the oversight of a middle leader and supported by the Senior Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing mentoring, tutoring and support to secondary school aged students with challenging behaviour and complex SEMH needs.
- Working on a case-load and implementing behaviour management strategies in a trauma-informed, nurturing and empathetic manner.
- Engaging with students in community and home settings, and outside of traditional school hours.
- Collaborating with the team, taking initiative and contributing to professional development.
Essential qualifications:
- Previous experience working with young people of secondary school age with challenging behaviour and complex SEMH needs, preferably within an educational setting.
- A nurturing, empathetic and trauma-informed approach to behaviour management.
- Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs.
- Ability to support, engage, teach and learn within an SEMH setting.
- Ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school, and to cater for the general welfare of students.
- Capability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative when needed.
- Willingness to participate in own professional development.
Salary and terms:
- NJC scale points 12-17: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum (Full Time Equivalent)
- Actual Salary: £24,459 – £26,532 per annum
- SEN Allowance: £1,539 per annum
