The Trustees are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistant Level 3 Fixed & Permanent posts at New Bridge School (Roman Road Campus). The role supports pupils with complex needs across various settings including the Main Body and Autism Base.
Location: New Bridge School, Roman Road, Hollinwood, Oldham. Teachers and TAs may be required to work at any site within the New Bridge Group.
Responsibilities
- Main Body: Work with a form group of up to 13 pupils and up to two TAs. Support the teacher during lessons and transitions across the school; assist pupils in achieving educational objectives, EHC outcomes, and well-being. Contribute to enrichment activities delivered by specialist teachers.
- Autism Base (AB): Work with groups of no more than seven pupils and up to four TAs. Support pupils in accessing the curriculum, manage sensory and behaviour plans, deliver interventions, and provide a consistent learning environment. Collaborate with class teachers, specialists and families to promote social interaction and emotional regulation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with young people of primary/secondary age presenting with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs.
- Ability to support teaching and learning within a special needs setting to a dedicated group of students.
- Ability to support the class teacher to monitor student progress and improve engagement.
- Ability to record student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
- Ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school.
- Ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate interventions.
- Ability to work as part of a team using own initiative.
- Willingness to participate in own professional development.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: NJC scale points 12-17: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum (full time, full year salary). Actual salary: £21,964 – £23,826 per annum pro rata.
- Allowance: SEN allowance £1,539 per annum pro rata; Base Allowance (Autism Base only) £2,106 per annum.
- Contract: Fixed term & Permanent positions available.
- Hours: 32 hours per week (term time only).
- Location: Initially at New Bridge School, Roman Road, Hollinwood, OL8 3PH.
