The Trustees are looking to recruit to the post of Pastoral Lead at New Bridge College (Key Stage 5), Oldham Town Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic, growing and committed staff team.
The successful candidate will:
- Collate and assess the pastoral outcomes for all allocated young people.
- Have overarching responsibility for safeguarding, causes for concern, interventions and behaviour data.
- Manage the day-to-day pastoral input for young people, guiding them towards their desired pastoral outcomes.
- Represent the group’s views at multi-agency meetings, always prioritising the young persons’ best interests.
- Support the work of teachers and other school staff, helping New Bridge Pathways provide the best offer possible.
We would be especially interested in applicants with a good level of experience of supporting children or young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary or secondary sector.
The successful candidate will:
- Be an excellent practitioner with the commitment and motivation to understand a young persons’ pastoral needs.
- Have experience of working with young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary, secondary or post-16 sector.
- Have empathetic expectations of young people, and a commitment to understanding the various challenges which may present barriers to learning and/or appropriate behaviours.
- Have experience of working with children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs including SLD, MLD, PMLD, Autism, SEMH, to support them in overcoming barriers to their personal, social, or learning development.
- Have experience of supporting children and students with a wide range of social and emotional difficulties including challenging behaviours through a range of positive handling strategies, bespoke support programs and targeted interventions.
- Possess the listening skills to support children, young people and their families through understanding their point of view in a non-judgemental approach.
- Have experience of processes and procedures around kCSIE in education including staff training, assessments and the monitoring of children and young people.
- Possess the knowledge and experience of working with LA MASH teams, including referral process and procedure.
- Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex needs.
- Have the ability to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community.
- Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development.
- Be a team player who can work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team.
Although based initially at the New Bridge College site, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group. New Bridge Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must have a commitment to safeguarding young people.
