As a Retail Area Manager at New Balance, you will oversee the operational performance of all stores within your designated area – London based. You will ensure adherence to company policies and best practices through regular store visits and audits. By analysing store results, you’ll develop action plans to drive continuous improvement and support the Retail Regional Manager in enhancing store performance. Additionally, you will assist with administrative tasks, projects, and profit & loss analysis, offering timely recommendations for improvement. As a brand ambassador, you will inspire your teams to perform at their best and create a culture that embodies New Balance values in a dynamic and energetic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct retail audits in stores, ensuring adherence to operational processes and best practices (minimum 4 store visits per week).
  2. Identify high and low-risk stores by reviewing KPIs and conducting commercial visits.
  3. Plan and execute monthly store audit schedules based on store risk factors.
  4. Lead, coach, and motivate teams, providing regular feedback and celebrating success.
  5. Complete team audits once per month and organize quarterly training meetings for all stores in your area.
  6. Attend stocktakes at high-risk stores, conduct spot checks, and provide post-stocktake action plans to the Retail Regional Manager.
  7. Drive KPIs such as sales, UPT, ATV, and conversion by collaborating with Store Managers (SM) and Assistant Store Managers (ASM) on regular commercial report usage and store walkthroughs.
  8. Support cash and loss prevention activities, reviewing cash collections, petty cash management, and floats before peak periods. Report any financial discrepancies promptly.
  9. Manage holiday schedules for stores, tracking them using an Excel planner, and provide quarterly updates to the Retail Regional Manager.
  10. Participate in quarterly marketplace visits with the regional manager and field team.
  11. Perform other duties as required.

Requirements for Success:

  1. 5+ years of retail management experience.
  2. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and budgets.
  3. Strong people management and leadership skills.
  4. Experience in coaching, developing, and motivating teams.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Proficiency in MS Excel and retail software.
  9. Fluent in English.
  10. Passion for fashion and/or sport is desirable.
  11. Strong commercial awareness of the retail market and consumer trends.
  12. Comfortable working autonomously and remotely managed.
  13. Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays.
  14. Team player with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
