JOB MISSION: Responsible for leading New Balance’s Environmental, Health and Safety Programs to ensure associate safety, regulatory compliance and industry best practices. This role is central to driving and achieving a safety culture at New Balance Flimby Manufacturing Facility.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identify and understand EH&S laws and regulations applicable to company operations and the actions needed in order to comply with these.
- Develop, implement and monitor policies, practices and procedures to address specific EH&S requirements.
- Conduct EH&S facility assessments and implement any corrective actions to ensure compliance with EH&S laws and regulations and with company practices.
- Interact with EH&S regulatory agencies and submit agency reports when applicable.
- Respond to EH&S related emergencies by providing guidance and support to assigned sites.
- Provide support to associates and assigned sites on EH&S day to day issues.
- Maintain metrics to effectively monitor and report compliance in relation to EH&S plans and initiatives.
- Conduct and/or validate incident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions.
- Obtain and maintain all necessary environmental permits as necessary.
- Oversee hazardous waste programs at site.
- Identify and implement ergonomic opportunities, including education and retraining with respect to work station evaluation, posture review and body mechanics.
- Lead on internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of actions.
- Work with HR on developing and delivering EH&S associate training programmes.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies, inspections, and EHS reporting.
- Ensure all actions are in line with New Balance Core Values.
