JOB MISSION:
As a Machine Operator – Assembly you will perform complex tasks to shoe uppers that require the use of tools and operation of different machinery. Tools and machines include but are not limited to shoe lasting, flash activators, sole press, spraying machines as well as packing and repairing. Work is performed in a team environment – focused on safety, quality and productivity standards towards meeting customer demands.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform work according to established procedures and processes – execute tasks to the materials and parts of the shoe utilizing various tools and machinery.
• Operate machinery to spray hot-melt adhesive onto sole, buff off overspray, last the shoe upper using an auto laster, connect the sole to the laster upper, inspect and make quality decisions, repair and pack into box all while ensuring quality standards are met.
• Make suggestions to improve the process and displays motivation and initiative to improve skills and job knowledge.
• Support NB quality expectations/standards and take ownership for meeting them. Ensure work quality before passing onto customers.
• Follow NB policies and demonstrate responsibility for attendance, safety requirements, PPE and reporting of accidents and near misses.
• Maintain a high level of quality per our internal & external customer requirements
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
• Must be a team player with strong work ethic and open to feedback
• Ability to read, understand and comprehend written or oral instructions
• Ability to work on complex jobs in a fast paced, quality focused environment where we build 600 pair of shoes in an 8-hour shift
• Ability to learn and adhere to start up and shutdown procedures (TPM) and making simple machine/mechanical adjustments to their workstation.
• Willing to learn new skills, expand job knowledge, and adapt to a changing environment
• Good manual dexterity skills (eye, hand and feet coordination)
• Able to stand for 8 hours, either sedentary or moving from role to role; lift light to moderate amounts of weight; perform repetitive upper extremity motions and repetitive forceful grip/pinch movement requiring both hands and use of foot pedals on some machines.
• Willing to adjust work schedule to meet a reasonable amount of overtime based on business needs
• Must use personal protective equipment (PPE)
