An award-winning independent production company with a global reputation for delivering hit entertainment formats is seeking a highly experienced Royalties Analyst to join the team on a 12-month fixed term contract, with potential for longer-term opportunities. Managing a substantial back catalogue of royalty-generating IP, this role takes ownership of the royalties reporting function across all labels within the group. Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will work closely with distributors and profit participants to ensure accurate reporting, reconciliation and forecasting of multiple royalty income streams. To be a suitable candidate it is essential that you have extensive royalties experience and the ability to work independently. You will be highly organised, diligent, proactive, self-motivated and someone who thrives on a challenge, ensuring all information is correct and appropriately recorded/reported. Key Responsibilities- Manage the end-to-end royalties reporting process across the group
- Analyse and challenge royalty statements (format sales, finished programme sales, licensing, merchandising and music royalties)
- Prepare biannual royalty statements for profit participants
- Post quarterly income and accruals to appropriate cost centres, ensuring accurate cost of sales calculations
- Reconcile royalty statements to balance sheet and nominal ledger balances
- Identify discrepancies, resolve issues and refine processes for continuous improvement
- Support reforecast cycles by reviewing distributor forecasts, analysing margins by brand and revenue stream, and commenting on variances
- Build and maintain royalty trackers, calendars and reporting tools
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support senior finance leadership
- Extensive royalties experience, including analysing and preparing royalty statements, ideally gained within television distribution (candidates from publishing or music will also be considered)
- Strong academic background with outstanding numeracy, an accountancy qualification would be an advantage
- Advanced Excel and strong systems skills
- Comfortable reading, interpreting and deciphering complex commercial contracts, with the ability to determine accurate royalty flows
- Experience of setting up royalty systems/trackers and implementing processes would be a distinct advantage
- Highly organised with meticulous record keeping
- Proactive, persistent and solutions-focused
- Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with distributors and profit participants
- Genuine interest in the media and entertainment industry
