A leading entertainment business is seeking a technically accomplished Financial Controller with strong commercial acumen to join its London-based finance team during a period of continued growth. This award-winning group is widely recognised for its creative excellence and strong commercial performance. Operating across multiple international markets, it produces and distributes high-quality content through a diverse portfolio of established platforms. Despite its scale, the business retains a progressive, entrepreneurial culture underpinned by collaboration, pace and a clear focus on financial discipline.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be a senior member of the finance leadership team, with responsibility across UK and group entities. You will lead and develop a team of eight, while working closely with stakeholders across the business to support both operational delivery and strategic decision-making.
The role offers a broad and engaging remit, spanning core financial control, statutory and group reporting, audit and compliance, alongside a strong commercial and business-partnering element. This is a genuinely hands-on position, suited to someone who enjoys combining technical rigour with influencing and supporting non-finance teams.
A key priority will be to continue strengthening systems, controls and processes, with a particular focus on automation, scalability and continuous improvement. This position is primarily office-based, with an expectation of at least four days per week in the London office.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing finance team of eight
- Own group financial management, including statutory accounts, audit, tax and compliance
- Deliver accurate and timely management accounts, cashflow reporting and forecasts
- Play a central role in budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
- Provide clear commercial insight and analysis to support senior leadership decisions
- Enhance financial controls, policies and governance frameworks
- Drive improvements across finance systems, automation and reporting efficiency
- Oversee payroll, VAT and other regulatory submissions
- Manage relationships with external auditors, advisors and banking partners
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred; ACCA also considered)
- Audit-trained, ideally within a top-tier or well-regarded accountancy practice
- Strong post-qualification experience within an entertainment, media or creative environment
- Proven experience operating at Financial Controller or senior finance level
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP, group consolidations and tax
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, with the ability to build and develop teams
- Commercially astute, confident partnering with senior stakeholders
- Track record of improving finance systems, controls and processes
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving organisation
- Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
This is an outstanding opportunity to step into a senior Financial Controller role within a market-leading entertainment group, offering real breadth, influence and the chance to make a tangible impact.
