We are looking for an experienced Lead Maintenance Fitter to join a fast‑paced industrial processing environment, supporting the smooth running of site operations and helping to minimise downtime across the plant. This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown repairs and continuous improvement of machinery and equipment. Working closely with production teams, you will play a key part in ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and with maximum productivity.
The Role
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant machinery
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns
- Fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Monitoring equipment performance and identifying improvements to reduce downtime
- Maintaining stock levels of spare parts and reporting shortages
- Completing maintenance reports and shift handovers
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures
- Supporting housekeeping standards within the workshop and operational areas
- Liaising with production, management and fabrication teams when required
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience within a Lead Fitter or Maintenance role
- Background within manufacturing, processing or heavy industry environments
- Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems and PLCs
- MIG welding experience advantageous
- Ability to work proactively and prioritise workload effectively
- Good communication and computer skills
- Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
- Forklift licence beneficial, although training can be provided
Shift Pattern
- 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern
- 2 day shifts followed by 2 night shifts
- Shift times: 5:00am - 5:00pm / 5:00pm - 5:00am
- 14‑day rest break built into the rota across the 8‑week cycle
