Overview
We are working with a well-established organisation seeking a proactive HSE Officer to support the Health, Safety & Environment Manager in ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation and internal standards. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being out on site, engaging with teams, and driving a positive safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site inspections to promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with HSE legislation
- Support day-to-day health, safety and environmental operations across site
- Log and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, including maintaining accurate records and action logs
- Coordinate statutory health surveillance and occupational health requirements
- Conduct work equipment and PPE inspections, ensuring suitability and compliance
- Support fire safety processes including alarm testing, extinguisher maintenance, and compliance checks
- Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to staff training and inductions
- Manage and maintain HSE documentation, noticeboards, and safety communications across site
- Support contractor inductions and ensure compliance with site procedures
- Assist with audits, inspections, and any HSE-related investigations
- Source and purchase HSE equipment, PPE, and safety materials as required
About You
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with staff at all levels
- Organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience carrying out inspections, audits, or HSE-related administrative tasks
- Comfortable delivering training, inductions, or toolbox talks
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine commitment to health and safety
- Ideally holds a recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or similar)
- First Aid qualified or willing to obtain
