Finance Assistant

Type: Temporary to permanent opportunity available.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a growing business based in Sittingbourne.

This is a newly created position, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of key parts of the invoicing and finance administration process and help shape the role as the business continues to grow.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and General Manager, you will be responsible for making sure services provided to clients are accurately recorded and invoiced.

As the business works with a range of clients, each with different requirements and charging structures, attention to detail is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising and processing weekly invoices for a portfolio of clients.
  • Checking invoices to ensure all relevant charges have been captured correctly.
  • Reviewing information from warehouse and operational teams to identify chargeable activity.
  • Recording and invoicing charges including storage, container unloading, picking, packing, wrapping, labelling and repacking.
  • Completing general finance administration and data entry.
  • Supporting credit control activities.
  • Maintaining accurate financial and client records.
  • Using Excel to collate, manage and check financial information.
  • Working with Warehouse Management systems, Sage Online and Excel.
  • Liaising with operational teams to clarify information where required.
  • Identifying discrepancies, missing information and potential missed charges.
  • Working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the invoicing process runs efficiently.
  • Helping to improve and streamline existing processes.
  • Supporting the longer-term development of the company's invoicing systems and processes.

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience in finance administration, invoicing, accounts support or a similar role.

You will need to be comfortable working with figures and have a naturally high level of attention to detail.

You'll also need to be confident questioning information where something doesn't look right.

Ideally, you will have

  • Previous experience in finance administration, invoicing or accounts support.
  • Experience raising and checking invoices.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Some experience or understanding of credit control.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Confidence working with figures and financial information.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • The ability to pick up new systems quickly.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to get involved.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Confidence liaising with both finance and operational teams.

Previous experience within logistics, transport, warehousing, distribution would be advantageous, but is not essential.
