We are currently recruiting for a CNC & Toolroom Machinist to join an established engineering team based in Sittingbourne. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist to work within a busy toolroom environment, operating specialist machinery and producing high-quality components.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Toolroom team, setting and operating CNC machinery, and developing their skills across a range of machining processes. You will also become a key point of contact for CNC machining activities, supporting continuous improvement and the introduction of new equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set, operate and program CNC machinery including lathes, EDM and 5-axis machines.
- Manufacture high-quality components using manual and specialist machining equipment.
- Support the Toolroom team with engineering activities and production requirements.
- Assist with the development of CNC processes, jigs and fixtures to improve productivity.
- Carry out maintenance, corrective and remedial work on machinery where required.
- Manage works orders, stock control and support production planning.
- Ensure all work is completed to required quality standards, within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and support ISO 9001 quality requirements.
- Promote a safe, clean and efficient working environment.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience with CNC programming, setting and operating within a workshop environment.
- Experience working with CNC lathes, EDM and/or 5-axis machining is required.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing standards.
- Good level of computer literacy.Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
Desirable:
- Time served apprenticeship or relevant Engineering qualification (City & Guilds / BTEC).
- Experience within a Toolroom or precision engineering environment.
