Are you passionate about driving meaningful change in sustainability, social value and the built environment? This is an exciting opportunity for a forward–thinking Sustainability & ESG Manager to play a key role in shaping and delivering an ambitious strategy that supports growth plans and commitment to becoming a highly sustainable, net–carbon group of businesses. You will be at the heart of defining the ESG vision, embedding sustainable practices across the organisation, and championing initiatives that create long–term value for communities, partners and stakeholders.
The Role
As Head of Sustainability, you will lead the development and implementation of a new group–wide sustainability and ESG strategy, including a net–carbon homes offering. Your work will directly influence the organisation's long–term direction, ensuring sustainability is fully integrated into decision–making and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape, deliver and promote the Group Sustainability Strategy, including establishing baseline data in year one
- Set, monitor and report on targets aligned to the strategy
- Secure senior–level commitment to embedding sustainable development across the business
- Work closely with the ESG Committee to support delivery of the Group ESG Plan
- Act as an internal consultant, advising teams on sustainability initiatives
- Coordinate group–wide data gathering and internal reporting for external ESG disclosures
- Support internal and external sustainability communications
- Develop operational metrics, track progress and update stakeholders
- Represent the organisation as a spokesperson on sustainability and social value
- Create and implement engagement strategies to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives
- Build and strengthen relationships with NGOs, think tanks, trade associations, policy makers, local authorities and partners
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about social value, construction and community engagement
- Skilled at communicating and influencing at all levels
- Experienced in delivering Sustainability and Social Value programmes
- Confident presenting internally and externally
- Strategic in approach, with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Strong in project management, with a results–driven mindset
- Knowledgeable about sustainability and social value trends, including key stakeholders and industry bodies
- Familiar with investor expectations around ESG performance
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience in a similar Sustainability or ESG role
- Proven track record delivering group–wide sustainability strategies
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Relevant degree
- Professional qualifications such as MIEMA or CEnv
- CSCS card (or working towards one)
