We are currently recruiting for a Machine Operative to join a busy manufacturing company based outside of Ashford. This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity and would suit candidates ranging from trainees looking to develop their skills through to experienced workshop machinists.
Working as part of the production team, you will be responsible for machining and preparing materials ready for the manufacturing and welding processes. This is a hands-on role requiring a good level of physical fitness, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate workshop machinery to machine and prepare materials to a high standard
- Work from engineering drawings and production instructions
- Ensure products are manufactured accurately and meet quality requirements
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure correct processes are followed
- Monitor stock levels and assist with material replenishment
- Carry out daily equipment checks and maintain a clean, organised work area
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and report any concerns promptly
- Assist in maintaining efficient production processes and achieving team targets
- Be willing to train on a variety of workshop machinery including bandsaws, pillar drills, and punch presses
- Support other departments as required by business needs
- Previous workshop, manufacturing, machine operative, or engineering experience is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is desirable; training can be provided
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
