We are working with a well-established supply chain specialist to recruit a Permanent Customs Team Leader to work Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm in the Dover area. In this role, you will lead a small customs team and manage the road freight including overseeing import/export and end-to-end customs operations.

The Role:
- Leading/supporting the customs team to ensure consistent performance and compliance, allocating workloads and conducting performance reviews.
- Oversee accurate import/export declarations and act as the point of escalation for complex or high-risk entries, liaising with customs authorities to ensure smooth and timely resolutions.
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC and regulatory bodies, staying up to date with changes to customs legislation/tariffs, and implement internal SOPs and best practices.
- Monitor daily customs operations to ensure accuracy and adhere to KPIs, including reviewing entries and documentation to minimise errors/delays.
- Liaise with customers, transport teams, warehouse, and external partners, communicating delays and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Oversee the accurate calculation of duties, taxes and fees, ensuring timely payments and correct use of deferment accounts, monitoring discrepancies.
- Proactively identify operational/compliance risks, providing clear guidance to the team and resolving customs issues efficiently while escalating critical matters if required.
About You:
- Minimum 3-5 years HMRC customs entry processing / CDS experience.
- Previous team leader or supervisory experience.
- Strong HS code classification knowledge.
- Good working knowledge of DEFRA, IPAFFS and related applications.
- Experience handling temperature-controlled goods.
- Strong working knowledge of CargoWise.
