We are recruiting a Legal Secretary to join a busy and well-established Residential Property & Conveyancing Law firm team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal secretary or a strong secretary/PA with audio dictation experience looking to develop their career within a law firm environment. This is a float role, supporting multiple fee earners across the department rather than working with one individual and you will be a valued and integral part of the wider team.
The Role
You will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Residential Property department in a fast-paced, transactional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing, formatting and proofreading legal documents using digital audio dictation
- Managing the flow of correspondence and documents in and out of the department
- Scanning, emailing and filing documents, including opening and closing files
- General file management and document organisation
- Answering telephone calls, taking messages and handling initial enquiries
- Providing support across the wider secretarial team when needed during busy periods or absences
Person Specification:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary within a law firm (Residential Property experience desirable but not essential)
- Strong audio dictation skills (essential)
- Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and experience with a Practice Management System are advantageous
- Excellent written English, grammar and attention to detail
- The ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
- Will also consider experienced Secretaries / PA and EA with substantial audio dictation experience, ideally from a professional services or legal environment
