Time and a half Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic
Duty Chef
to join an excellent catering team within a busy school environment. Working across multi-sites, you will support the Head Chef with the preparation and delivery of breakfast, lunch, tea and special events. You will also take responsibility for the preparation, cooking and service of Boarders' tea, as well as overseeing match teas and supporting the wider catering operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate chef who enjoys working in a varied environment and takes pride in producing high-quality food and delivering excellent service to pupils, staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef with the preparation of breakfast, lunch and tea. Take responsibility for finishing and serving Boarders' tea. Assist with catering for lunches, teas and special events. Oversee, cook and serve match teas. Replenish hot counters throughout service. Ensure all dietary requirements are accurately catered for, liaising with pupils and staff where required. Act as
Chef in Charge
during Boarders' tea. Maintain accurate HACCP records, including refrigerator and food temperature checks. Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness across kitchen, refectory, dining and meeting areas. Provide a prompt, professional and efficient service to pupils, staff, guests and visitors. Ensure all food preparation and catering duties are completed in line with required hygiene and food safety standards. About You The successful candidate will: Have proven experience working in a similar chef or catering role. Be passionate about producing great-tasting food and delivering exceptional customer service. Have a positive
can-do attitude
and be able to adapt to changing requirements. Have excellent organisational and time-management skills. Be confident communicating and interacting with pupils, staff and colleagues. Be able to multitask effectively in a busy catering environment. Maintain high standards of work, hygiene and personal presentation. Be reliable, trustworthy and a strong team player. Desirable:
Previous experience supervising a catering team and/or a relevant catering qualification. What's on Offer? £28,400 per annum. Saturday working paid at time and a half.
