Catering Lecturer - Temporary Contract: Temporary Hours: 16.5 hours per week We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Catering Lecturer to join our clients team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will deliver teaching across L2 Professional Cookery and Junior College Year 10 Kitchen Services L2. As the majority of the hours will be spent working with Year 10 learners, experience of working with or supporting Pre-16 students would be highly desirable. This role would ideally suit someone with previous teaching or training experience and a relevant teaching qualification. However, candidates without a formal teaching qualification will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong professional catering experience, the ability to support and lead others, and a genuine interest in developing learners. The Role You will use your professional catering knowledge and practical experience to support learners in developing their skills, confidence and understanding of professional cookery. You will be responsible for: Delivering practical and engaging sessions across L2 Professional Cookery and L2 Kitchen Services. Supporting learners to develop practical cookery skills and professional kitchen techniques. Demonstrating the safe and effective use of professional kitchen equipment. Promoting high standards of food safety, health and safety and professional kitchen practice. Supporting and leading learners in a practical kitchen environment. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential: Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Catering / Professional Cookery or equivalent. Knowledge and practical experience of working within a professional kitchen. Knowledge of professional kitchen equipment and professional cookery standards. Strong understanding of health and safety and food safety. Ability to support, guide and lead others in a practical working environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills. A genuine interest in helping learners develop their practical and professional skills.Desirable: Previous experience of teaching, training or mentoring others. A recognised teaching or training qualification. Experience of working with Pre-16 learners, particularly Year 10 students. Experience of delivering vocational training or supporting apprentices/learners.Please note: A formal teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. We will consider experienced catering professionals who have the appropriate industry knowledge and can demonstrate experience of supporting and leading others.
