We are working with a well-established supply chain specialist to recruit a Permanent Customs Clerk to work a 12-hour NIGHT shift, with a 4 on/off working pattern, 6PM to 6AM. In this role, you will be reporting to the Assistant Customs Freight Manager and will be managing the movement of clearance of goods in and out of the UK. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with 1 to 2 years of experience, who has a good understanding of HMRC rules and regulations, and who is seeking a position to develop in this area.
About the role
- Communicate with HMRC and other authorities to ensure goods are cleared and released.
- Ensure HMRC rule and regulations are adhered to.
- Liaise with customers (both internal and external) to ensure timely clearance.
- Ensure company values and strategies are followed.
- Feed market information into the business to ensure we offer the most competitive service.
- Work closely with the sales team to grow the customer share.
- Support Customs Freight Manager in the development and growth of department.
- Carry out adhoc functions as and when required and directed by the line manager.
- Assist other departments as and when required by the business.
Required experience
- 1-2 years HMRC entry processing / CDS experience.
- Good HSS code knowledge / classification.
- Basic understanding of PECH and DEFRA applications.
- Good temperature controlled equipment knowledge.
- Knowledge / experience importing / exporting produce.
- Experience with Cargowise is a bonus.
