Join our client, a UK-based logistics provider specialising in full-load and groupage transport, with operations supported by their own fleet. As Transport Manager, you will take charge of a fleet of 100+ vehicles, overseeing European operations while driving efficiency, safety and service excellence.
Location: Dover
Salary: £55,000+ (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm + 1 in 3 Saturdays 8am - 1pm
Role summary:
To be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the haulage fleet, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective movement of goods.

Key responsibilities:
- Ensure the fleet of vehicles are compliant.
- Monitor driver hours and action any infringements.
- Implement training plans for Drivers where required, with clear objectives and timelines.
- Carry out recruitment and induction of HGV Drivers.
- Conduct driver disciplinaries where required.
- Collate information from driver timesheets, review bonuses and overtime payments.
- Support and assist the Site & Warehouse Manager when required.
- Cover for the Site & Warehouse Manager when required, including client invoicing and management of staff.
- Work closely with operations staff who are based in other locations to allocate and maximise driver resources.
- Thoroughly investigate any issues of trailer, truck or load damage.
- Work closely with the Workshop to monitor fleet repairs.
- Ensure tractor units and trailers are available for PMI/MOT.
- Provide input into specifications of future vehicle/trailer purchases.
- Negotiate with suppliers for provision of driver consumables.
- Ensure drivers have the required equipment to fulfil their duties.
- Review and issue documentation to drivers.
- Be on-call outside of business hours.
Experience and skills required:
- Due to the nature of this business, there is a requirement to be on-call outside of business hours.
- Have a strong understanding of customs processes, post-Brexit.
- UK or European Transport Management experience.
- Valid UK and International CPC.
- Hold (or previously have held) a Class 1 Licence.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- A professional, positive and helpful attitude.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
