Commercial Manager

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join an established logistics business, taking ownership of the commercial performance, business development and customer growth.

Reporting directly to the Branch Director, you will lead commercial activity, manage a team of approximately 5 direct reports and work closely with operations to drive profitability, develop customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Drive branch growth and profitability by identifying and securing new commercial opportunities across road, sea, air, courier, warehousing and customs services.
  • Develop new business, target markets and customer relationships while identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts.
  • Manage, coach and support a team of approximately 5 direct reports, driving commercial performance, accountability and development.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure effective account management and high-quality, tailored customer service.
  • Manage pricing strategies, profit margins and overall commercial performance to maximise profitability.
  • Build strong customer relationships through regular meetings, site visits and events.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve margins and strengthen the branch's commercial performance.
  • Provide regular commercial performance updates and insight to the Branch Director.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager, Business Development Manager or Sales Manager within freight forwarding or logistics is essential.
  • Strong track record of driving revenue growth and developing profitable business across Air, Sea and/or Road freight.
  • Previous experience managing, motivating and developing a commercial team.
  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding, logistics and international transport.
  • Excellent negotiation, commercial, relationship-building and customer management.
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, accountability and IT literacy.
