Role Description

The Shop Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at NEVILL GOLF CLUB LIMITED in Royal Tunbridge Wells. This role is responsible for the day-to-day running of the golf shop, including managing stock levels, overseeing product displays, and ensuring the shop is clean, organized, and welcoming. The Shop Manager will serve customers in person, handle sales transactions, provide product advice, and support an excellent customer experience. Daily tasks include supervising shop staff, managing rotas, monitoring sales performance, and working with suppliers on orders and deliveries. The role also involves coordinating with club management and the professional staff to support club events, promotions, and merchandising initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong Customer Service and Customer Experience skills, with a focus on delivering friendly, efficient, and helpful support to members and visitors.
  • Proficiency in Store Management and Operations Management, including stock control, merchandising, and basic financial administration.
  • Effective Communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Experience in retail or hospitality, ideally within a sports or leisure environment; golf knowledge is an advantage but not essential.
  • Good numeracy and IT skills, including use of point-of-sale systems and basic office software.
  • Proven ability to work on-site in a hands-on role, prioritize tasks, and remain calm during busy periods.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience is beneficial, with a collaborative and inclusive management style.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and peak club hours; relevant vocational training or qualifications in retail or customer service are an asset.
