About the Role
The Freelance CAD Designer (2D AutoCAD) plays a key role in supporting retail store and commercial fit‑out projects across the business. The role is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, layouts, and revisions to a high professional standard, based on project specifications, site information, and internal requirements. Working on a freelance contract basis, the CAD Designer will convert sketches, markups, PDFs and design concepts into precise CAD outputs suitable for construction, manufacturing and installation. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project deadlines independently while maintaining clear communication throughout each assignment.
How you’ll contribute
- Produce detailed 2D CAD drawings, layouts and technical plans using AutoCAD.
- Create and revise retail store drawings based on markups, surveys, specifications and feedback.
- Convert sketches, concepts, PDFs and annotated drawings into professional technical CAD packages.
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, coordinated and compliant with project standards and specifications.
- Maintain organised drawing files, revisions and documentation throughout each project.
- Manage deadlines independently and deliver completed drawing packages on time.
- Communicate clearly regarding project progress, revisions and technical queries.
- Produce drawings suitable for manufacturing, construction and installation purposes.
Who we’re looking for
- Strong proficiency in 2D drafting using AutoCAD.
- Excellent understanding of technical drawing standards, dimensions, scaling and layout.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, construction, manufacturing or fit‑out drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple freelance project deadlines.
- Reliable communication and responsiveness during active projects.
- Previous freelance or project‑based CAD drafting experience preferred.
- Experience within retail, commercial interiors, shopfitting or fit‑out projects is highly desirable.
Software: AutoCAD (2D drafting only). Freelance / contract position. Initial 6‑month contract with potential extension to 12 months. Initial trial/probationary period applies. Remote or hybrid working depending on project requirements. Ongoing work available for the right candidate.
