As Neutreeno's first in-house UX/UI Designer, you will own the end-to-end Neutreeno user experience. This is not a typical design role as our platform sits at the intersection of climate science, engineering, supply chain modelling and large-scale data analytics. We are looking for someone who can think conceptually about complex systems, interface with customers and UX research, define user personas, and design funnels that balance data richness with emotional clarity. You will be hands-on with design tools daily, creating the actual interfaces, screens, and interactions that bring your strategic vision to life. You will guide engineers with your expertise, not just respond to their requests.
Working closely with our customers, and our software, commercial and engineering teams, you will conceptualise and translate insights into product direction. You will create narrative and hierarchy across screens and reduce overwhelm without dumbing down complexity. This is a role for someone who thrives taking ownership of the entire UX/UI experience from abstract problem framing to concrete visual designs; onboarding stakeholders to their vision; and ready to make immediate impact at the intersection of product design, business and engineering.
As part of a dynamic and fast-paced startup, you will thrive on the challenge of building something extraordinary by tapping into and leveraging your proven expertise in UX/UI design. You will have the opportunity to shape user experiences from the ground up and create exceptional digital experiences. Your work at Neutreeno will directly impact companies around the world.
This position operates on a hybrid work model that fosters both teamwork and individual flexibility, with 3 days per week in our Cambridge office. Exceptional London-based candidates will be considered with a 2-day per week office requirement.
The Work You’ll Do
- Define conceptual frameworks and design principles that guide product evolution.
- Frame complex problems at the system level, develop mental models for how users should think about and interact with emissions data, and establish interaction paradigms that scale across the platform.
- Design and deliver complete user flows, screens and UI components that reduce drop-off and guide users from awareness to value realisation.
- Conceptualise and map the end-to-end user journey, create information architecture, then build the actual interfaces in Figma tailored to different user types – from executives who need high-level insights to practitioners who need detailed data.
- Work strategically with engineers and stakeholders to understand the larger context of how the product is being used.
- Provide strong UX leadership to find holistic solutions that align to business goals, guiding technical decisions with your expertise rather than just executing on requirements.
- Build narrative and hierarchy across screens that show users value.
- Design experiences that reduce cognitive load and make complex data products feel accessible.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and development-ready mockups.
- Work closely with engineers to ensure solutions are practical, implementable, and aligned with underlying models while developing a deep understanding of emissions models, data structures, supply chain flows, and customer workflows.
Requirements
The Minimum Qualifications You’ll Need
- University degree in Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI), Information Design, Communication Design, Engineering, Psychology or similar.
- 5+ years of proven UX/UI experience in a B2B SaaS environment, with strong emphasis on strategy, conceptual design, and hands-on interface design.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma for all stages of design.
- Strong portfolio showcasing previous work on complex SaaS products, demonstrating both conceptual thinking and hands-on execution.
- Experience designing and delivering multi-persona data products where different user types need different views and workflows.
- You have a very solid grasp of interaction design, usability engineering and testing, gestalt principles and can communicate to teams and stakeholders how those factors will influence the design process and outcomes.
- You have outstanding communication skills, are fluent in English and can collaborate with multiple stakeholders in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in early-stage startups (Seed to Series A), with a preference for those who have been part of an early team and thrive in fast-moving environments.
- Passion for sustainability and an understanding of the decarbonisation landscape.
- Track record of establishing UX processes and design systems in growing teams.
