About Neutreeno
Climate change is the defining business challenge of our time, and we're here to solve it. Most decarbonisation solutions count emissions but do nothing to reduce them. We've changed that. We’re Neutreeno, an emissions-to-performance platform, born out of the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering. We help companies with supply chains and production processes turn emissions data into operational insight, the kind that cuts costs, sharpens decisions, and unlocks genuine competitive advantage.
We’re a fast-moving team that values EQ just as much as IQ. Autonomy, high-ownership, speed and no-ego collaboration are at our core. We seek people who care deeply and are eager to work on solving problems bigger than themselves.
The Role
As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer and key member of the Neutreeno team, you’ll be shipping great software, bringing strong engineering judgment, and making the team better through craft and collaboration. You’ll ship across the full stack, crafting clean React UIs, building reliable Node.js and Python services, and deploying to AWS. You’ll own features end-to-end alongside a small, strong engineering team, and you’ll have real influence over how the product evolves. You also use AI coding tools and agentic workflows as a force-multiplier, and you’re actively curious about how they change what a small engineering team can achieve.
This position operates on a hybrid work model with 3 days per week in our Cambridge office. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for outstanding international candidates, provided there is sufficient overlap with UK working hours.
The Work You’ll Do
- Technical Leadership
- Build responsive, modular UIs in React and TypeScript that make complex emissions data feel simple and intuitive.
- Develop and maintain backend services in Node.js, designing clean APIs and working with cloud-native AWS infrastructure.
- Ship features end-to-end: from picking up a product brief to deploying to production via our CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to the technical direction of Neutreeno, helping inform architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability.
- Champion AI-native development practices and agentic workflows across your own work and actively share that thinking with the wider team.
- Team and Product
- Partner closely with the Neutreeno team to translate product ambitions into well-scoped, well-sequenced engineering work.
- Feed into the engineering roadmap, providing strong technical input on prioritisation, feature velocity, and technical health.
- Contribute to hiring decisions and help shape an engineering culture that helps Neutreeno scale.
- Communicate clearly about technical decisions and progress with product, design, and the wider team.
Requirements
The Minimum Qualifications You’ll Need
- 7 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
- A strong individual contributor deeply motivated to stay hands-on in the codebase, with a collaborative approach to sharing knowledge and raising quality across the team.
- Deep proficiency across the full stack, including React and TypeScript on the front end and Node.js on the back end.
- Solid experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud-native deployment.
- A proven track record of shipping high-quality software at pace.
- Real, daily use of AI coding tools and agentic development workflows as a core part of how you work.
- Strong communication and the ability to build trust quickly across engineering, product, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at an early-stage startup as a senior individual contributor.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, Terraform, or CI/CD pipeline design.
- Experience integrating LLMs or building AI-powered product features.
- Exposure to climate, sustainability, or deep-tech domains.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field (not required, track record speaks louder).
