About Neutreeno
Climate change is the defining business challenge of our time, and we're here to solve it. Most decarbonisation solutions count emissions but do nothing to reduce them. We've changed that. We’re Neutreeno, an emissions-to-performance platform, born out of the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering. We help companies with supply chains and production processes turn emissions data into operational insight, the kind that cuts costs, sharpens decisions, and unlocks genuine competitive advantage. For operations and finance, it's margin they can measure. For sustainability teams, it's progress they can prove. Same data, two audiences, one engine. We’re a fast-moving team that values EQ just as much as IQ. Autonomy, high-ownership, speed and no-ego collaboration are at our core. We seek people who care deeply and are eager to work on solving problems bigger than themselves.
The Role
This is a role for someone who wants to sit at the heart of a high-growth, venture-backed startup and see how it gets built by doing the work themselves. As much as it demands sharp execution, it's a deeply people-facing role, and the ability to build trust, read a room, and bring others with you is just as critical as anything else. As our Operations Specialist, you'll work directly with the Founder and Operations & Finance Lead, taking ownership of whatever creates the most impact. That might mean building the foundations that let us scale without losing what makes us special, deploying AI agents that unlock new levels of operational efficiency, driving critical commercial initiatives, or crafting the materials that shape how investors and partners see Neutreeno. There is no fixed remit and no rigid playbook. The thread is always the same: find what will move the needle most, take full ownership of it, and drive it through to completion. You won't wait to be told what to do. You'll spot the gaps yourself, form a view on what matters, and move. Clear, effective communication and high autonomy are key. This is a high-exposure role with a steep learning curve. The strongest performers will have built the judgement and pattern recognition to move towards becoming a Chief of Staff, Head of People, Head of Performance, or a lead in our commercial team. We hire with that trajectory in mind. If you work hard, move fast, and have an outsized impact, the sky is the limit. What you do here matters far more than how long you've been doing it.
This position operates on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 3 days per week in our Cambridge office, with a preference for those who want to be in 5 days a week.
The Work You'll Do
- Work directly with the Founder and Operations & Finance Lead to identify and own the highest-leverage priorities each week, spanning HR, commercial, operations, finance, legal, revops and investor relations. No two weeks will look the same; priorities shift quickly and you'll need to move with them.
- Build the foundations that let us scale our team and keep the business running as we grow, from hiring processes to internal systems and operations.
- Deploy and manage AI agents and tools that unlock new levels of operational efficiency across the business.
- Craft compelling materials that shape how investors, partners, and potential employees see Neutreeno, from board decks to pitch materials and hiring collateral.
- Track and report on the initiatives you own, using data to make decisions and communicate progress clearly to the leadership team.
Requirements
The Minimum Qualifications You’ll Need
- High emotional intelligence. This is a deeply people-facing role.
- 0 to 1 years of professional experience, or strong internship experience that demonstrates you can operate at pace in a high-performance environment.
- A degree from a leading university.
- A genuine and demonstrable passion for AI and how it can be deployed to drive operational efficiency. We want someone actively experimenting with these tools and excited to put us at the frontier of AI-powered operations.
- A clear and authentic passion for our mission. This work is hard enough when you love it.
- High potential over high experience. Hunger, curiosity, and the drive to figure things out matter more.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and making confident decisions with incomplete information under time pressure. Things will go wrong; what matters is how fast you learn and move on.
- Highly organised, strong communicator, and comfortable operating across HR, commercial, operations, finance, legal, and investor relations. You don't need to be a specialist in all of them, but you can't be afraid of any of them.
- Data-driven with the ability to track, measure, and communicate the impact of your work clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some exposure to a high-growth company, including internships, ideally in a founder's associate, operations, or generalist capacity.
- A STEM background and the problem-solving mindset that comes with it.
- A competitive sporting background; the discipline, resilience, and team-first mentality it builds are qualities we look for in everyone we hire.
Benefits
What We Offer
- Compensation & Benefits: £32,500 - £37,500 base pay dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience.
- 25 days annual leave.
- Year-end performance bonus.
