Quality Inspector in Oxford

Oxford Full-Time No working from home possible
NEUTRA

THE OPPORTUNITY

One of Oxfordshire's most exciting precision engineering businesses is growing fast. Following a majority equity investment from a US-based aerospace and defence private equity firm, the business is pushing hard into aerospace and defence alongside its established motorsport, medical and energy work. A brand-new campus is operational, and the pipeline is strong. It's a great time to join.

THE ROLE

You'll be part of a close-knit quality team inspecting precision-engineered components across the full production cycle,goods-in, first-offs and outgoing release. The work is varied and technically interesting, and the parts you sign off end up in sectors where quality really matters.

Responsibilities include dimensional and visual inspection to customer and regulatory standards, producing FAIRs and ISIRs, managing non-conformances, supporting calibration and jig inspection, and contributing to ongoing process improvements.

THE KIT

Depending on your level, you'll work with some or all of:

- Bridge CMM (PC-DMIS)

- Portable CMM, Romer Arms (PolyWorks)

- Bench and hand metrology, mics, verniers, DTIs, surface plates, shadowgraphs

- NDT methods, penetrant, pressure testing, visual weld inspection (desirable)

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're open on profile. What matters is that you have solid fundamentals, the right person will be trained and developed. You'll likely fit one of these:

The CMM inspector or programmer, you can run, adapt or write CMM programs, set datums and work confidently with coordinate measuring equipment. Software can be learned.

The strong manual inspector, you're confident with bench and hand metrology, you can read and interpret an engineering drawing (BS8888, GD&T, surface finish), and you're keen to develop your CMM skills.

The aerospace or defence inspector, whatever your toolset, experience in an A&D quality environment, FAIR/ISIR, AS9100 awareness, is a real advantage here given where the business is heading.

Across all profiles: you need to be able to read an engineering drawing properly. Understanding of BS8888, linear and geometric tolerancing is essential.
