Help us build the future of real-time retail execution. We're the Execution Intelligence platform for CPG brands, and we're looking for a Full Stack Engineer who takes ownership of their work, from picking up a ticket to seeing the change running in production. You'll build on the systems we already have, backend through to front end, and own your work through to deployment.
Your depth is in the backend, and you want to grow across front end and deployment rather than specialise. AI fluency is what makes that breadth workable. Your mission: get working software into customers' hands and keep it reliable, so what we promise and what we deliver are the same thing.
- Full stack implementation
- You build and maintain features across the stack, backend through to front end.
- You own the whole feature, from the data layer through to what the user interacts with.
- When data is not flowing or an integration is failing, you investigate it, trace it across services, fix it and deploy the fix.
- You work directly with our delivery and machine learning teams to turn what they need into a working connection.
- Deployment and release pipeline (CI/CD)
- AI automation
- You own how AI is used to improve your delivery, building automation into your own workflow and extending it to the engineering work around you.
Around four years' equivalent experience building and shipping software as part of an engineering team. You have owned at least one project front to back across the full stack, from first commit to running in production. Recent experience using AI tools to drive a project end to end. You have designed a web system yourself, rather than only worked within one someone else designed.
- Technical Skills:
- Python backend development, including async paradigm.
- REST API design - FastAPI, or a comparable Python framework.
- PostgreSQL and relational database design - SQLAlchemy, or equivalent ORM experience.
- Understanding of web system design principles and how components fit together.
- React and TypeScript, enough to connect front end to backend and carry a feature through. Front-end specialist depth is not expected.
- AI fluency.
- GraphQL for the frontend to backend connection (Strawberry used on the backend side, Apollo on the frontend).
Some baseline understanding of deployment helps, and we will train the depth in your first three months. Faced with a live issue, you get a hotfix in to stop the immediate problem, then bring the team together to plan the proper fix and drive it through. You ask for help rather than handing work back. You want to spend time with the team in person - with quarterly travel to our London Office and travel at least once a week to Edinburgh.
Salary and Benefits:
- Open salary structure β this role offers a competitive base salary, paying up to Β£100,000 per annum.
- Equity share options β we operate an EMI share option scheme, so when the company grows in value, you share in it.
- Pension β we contribute 3% through Penfold via salary sacrifice, with 5% employee contributions.
- Perks at Work β access to thousands of discounts across 30,000+ brands via CharlieHR, including up to 44% off cinema tickets and 15% off high street retailers.
- Cycle to Work scheme β purchase a bike and accessories in a tax-efficient way through salary sacrifice via Cyclescheme.
- Holiday Purchase scheme β buy up to 5 additional days of annual leave per year, spread across monthly salary deductions.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to carry forward up to 3 days.
- AXA private medical insurance β Neurolabs covers the full premium. Cover includes cancer treatment, diagnostics, physiotherapy, counselling, and European travel insurance. Dental and optical handbooks also available.
