We are seeking a passionate and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment service. The successful candidate will support private Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment pathways for children, young people, and adults. The role will involve conducting communication and social communication assessments as part of multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments, contributing specialist clinical recommendations, and delivering targeted one-to-one interventions where appropriate. Key Responsibilities- Assessment Responsibilities
- Conduct speech, language, communication and social communication assessments for children, young people and adults.
- Contribute specialist expertise to multidisciplinary ASD and ADHD assessment pathways.
- Assess communication profiles, pragmatic language skills, social interaction, language processing and functional communication needs.
- Gather information through clinical interviews, observations, questionnaires and standardised assessment tools.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and diagnostic meetings where required.
- Provide evidence‑based recommendations to support individuals, families, educational settings and workplaces.
- Produce clear, comprehensive and professional assessment reports within agreed timescales.
- Intervention Responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one speech and language therapy interventions where clinically indicated.
- Develop individualised intervention plans based on assessment findings.
- Support the development of communication, social communication, emotional regulation and executive functioning strategies where appropriate.
- Provide parent, caregiver and professional consultation to support communication goals.
- Review intervention outcomes and adapt programmes according to client progress.
- Deliver intervention sessions in person or remotely, depending on client needs.
- General Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate clinical records and case notes.
- Work within professional, ethical and legal frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Maintain professional registration and continuing professional development (CPD).
- Work collaboratively with psychologists, behavioural specialists, educational professionals and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and/or CORU.
- Experience working with autistic individuals and/or individuals with ADHD.
- Experience conducting communication and social communication assessments.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a freelance caseload.
- Professional indemnity insurance appropriate for private practice.
