Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people – no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone. Are you ready to take your expertise in neurorehabilitation to the next level and lead the transformation of a pioneering service? Our Birmingham centre is transitioning to Active Neuro, the newly launched division of Active Care Group, providing specialist neurological rehabilitation for adults living with complex neurological conditions. This is a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of a specialist neurological rehabilitation service at a pivotal stage in its journey.

We’re looking for an ambitious Occupational Therapist who sees opportunity where others see challenge. Someone who is passionate about building high-performing teams, embedding clinical excellence, and creating a rehabilitation service recognised for outstanding patient outcomes. You’ll join at a time of significant investment across our neurorehabilitation division, with the opportunity to influence not only the therapy team, but the future direction of the service itself.

A key part of this investment is the development of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art neurorehabilitation gym, created by refurbishing and extending an existing building to connect seamlessly with the main centre. The new facility will feature multiple specialist treatment rooms alongside a full suite of advanced rehabilitation technology, including robotics and equipment such as the Luna EMG Premium and ExoMotus M4, enabling therapists to deliver intensive, goal-oriented rehabilitation that achieves exceptional patient outcomes.

As a member of the therapy leadership team, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the design and development of this exciting new facility, ensuring it meets the needs of both clinicians and the people we support. If you’re passionate about leading people, shaping services, and delivering exceptional person-centred neurorehabilitation, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact while helping define the future of Active Neuro.

The Role: As part of our transition to Active Neuro, the therapy service is evolving into a seven-day model of care to better support the rehabilitation needs of our clients. As a result, occasional pre-arranged weekend working will be required. You will also be expected to work Bank Holidays as required by the service, with enhanced pay provided in line with company policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist Occupational Therapy service
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner to plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload
  • Work closely with clients and their family/carers to encourage participation in the therapeutic process
  • Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior occupational therapists, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service
  • Develop Occupational therapy Treatment programmes in collaboration with clients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. Therapeutic Rehabilitation Assistant, Support Workers) to be carried out as appropriate
  • Participate in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents
  • Ensure a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice
  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

About you: We are looking for an experienced and compassionate professional who:

  • Is HCPC registered
  • Brings extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation or related complex care settings
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating a multidisciplinary team
  • Is passionate about innovation and delivering outstanding, life-changing outcomes for our clients

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS. We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. To support this, we are a Disability Confident employer. At Active Care Group we want everyone to feel welcome and supported. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment or interview process, just let us know and we’d be very happy to discuss this with you.
