Role Requirements: M is in her early 30’s and lives with a complex, progressive condition, which means she requires 24/7 support. Once immersed in Glasgow’s vibrant art and music scene, she now continues to be creative using eye-gaze technology, finding expression and identity through her art and love of music. M lives next door to her mum and sister and is supported by a close-knit care team. Her days are filled with music, podcasts, reading, being in nature, watching films, and creating artwork. She is thoughtful, creative, and emotionally intelligent – and is seeking support from people who truly see her for who she is beyond her disability.
What the Role Involves: You’ll be supporting M with all aspects of daily living, including:
- Full assistance with personal care, nutrition (PEG feeding), medication, and clinical tasks.
- Manual handling and repositioning (especially during waking hours – 2:1 support required).
- Supporting communication through eye-gaze technology.
- Providing emotional support and helping M navigate the psychological impact of her condition.
- Enabling access to her interests and creative outlets – from exhibitions to film, theatre, dance, books, poetry and music. M already uses her laptop to make art, and is interested in learning how to use her eye gaze to DJ.
You’ll be a good fit for M’s team if you are:
- Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient.
- Intuitive and able to notice and act on small changes in comfort or wellbeing.
- Kind, encouraging and dependable.
- Respectful of family life and able to work within a close-knit home environment.
- Genuinely interested in art, music, creativity, or holistic wellbeing.
- Non-smoker preferred, cat-friendly, and a confident driver (due to rural location).
Experience in health or social care is helpful but not essential – the right person is more important than the perfect CV.
