About the Company

This is a mid-sized, established SaaS business operating in the travel and hospitality sector. The company works with customers and partners globally and runs a product with real scale, complex integrations and high transaction volumes. They sit between start-up and enterprise, offering real ownership, pace and impact without the heavy bureaucracy found in larger organisations. Product decisions move quickly and what is shipped has an immediate effect on customers and partners.

About the Role

This is a hands-on Product Owner role with a strong technical and integration focus. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys understanding how a product works end to end, not just what users see on the surface. While experience with UX and UI is useful, it is not the primary focus of this role. The emphasis is on:

  • Technical product ownership
  • APIs and third-party integrations
  • Data flows and system behaviour

In a larger organisation, this work would typically be split across multiple roles. Here, it sits with one Product Owner who is comfortable working closely with engineers and senior stakeholders and taking ownership from idea through to delivery and beyond.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Owning product features from problem definition through build, release and post-launch improvement
  • Working closely with engineers on complex API integrations with external partners
  • Reading and interpreting API documentation and system behaviour
  • Writing clear, detailed requirements for technically complex work
  • Translating technical detail into concise summaries for senior stakeholders
  • Using data and basic SQL queries to understand product behaviour and issues
  • Supporting UAT, production releases and live issue triage
  • Balancing user needs, technical constraints and commercial priorities

3 to 5 years experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Business Analyst in a product-led environment

Strong exposure to API integrations, system-to-system integrations or complex data flows

Experience writing detailed, structured requirements for technical products

Confidence working directly with engineers and discussing technical trade-offs

Ability to quickly digest complex systems and explain them clearly

Experience working in smaller or mid-sized companies with broad role scope and high ownership

Basic SQL or database querying experience

Familiarity with system architecture concepts

Awareness of UI and UX principles without needing to be a designer

Experience in SaaS or integration-heavy products

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a UI or design-led product role
  • Not a purely strategic or roadmap-only role
  • Not a narrowly defined Scrum Product Owner position
  • Not suited to candidates who prefer strict role boundaries or heavy process

Who Will Succeed in This Role

  • Curious about how products work behind the scenes
  • Comfortable taking accountability for outcomes, not just outputs
  • Pragmatic, detail-oriented and delivery-focused
  • Confident operating in a low-bureaucracy, high-ownership environment
