Neulinx have partnered with a fast-growing, Series A software company building collaborative canvas technology and developer tools used by millions of people globally. Following £12 million in funding, the business is now scaling its product and engineering capability. They are looking for a Backend / Infrastructure Engineer to join an engineering team of 15 and strengthen the backend systems, infrastructure, release processes, and operational foundations behind their product. This is a high-ownership role in a small, fast-moving team.

You’ll work across backend services, deployment infrastructure, observability, incident response, CI/CD, and release reliability, helping the team ship faster and more safely as the company enters its next stage of growth. The culture is pragmatic and product-led. They care about craft, momentum, strong judgement, and simple systems that work well.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Owning and improving backend systems, services, APIs, and infrastructure
  • Improving release safety, speed, versioning, testing, and rollback processes
  • Building and scaling systems that support both end users and developer customers
  • Investigating and resolving production incidents and infrastructure issues
  • Improving CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility
  • Working closely with product engineers across the stack
  • Documenting what you build so the wider engineering team can move faster

Key skills and experience required:

  • Strong hands-on experience building and operating production backend systems
  • Fluency with TypeScript, Node.js, and systems design
  • Experience with infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
  • Track record improving reliability, developer experience, release quality, or operational maturity
  • Ability to write production-quality code independently
  • Clear communication and strong judgement in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Comfortable helping other engineers level up around backend, infrastructure, and release processes

Nice to have:

  • Early-stage or founding engineer experience
  • Experience with developer tools, SDKs, real-time collaboration, or local-first software
  • Exposure to Cloudflare, real-time databases, or collaborative application backends
  • Experience building infrastructure for products serving both end users and developer customers
  • Open-source contributions or involvement in developer communities
