The Head of Flood Risk and Drainage will lead and manage the flood risk engineering team, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of flood risk management projects and play a key role in shaping the growth of the flood risk service offer. This role is responsible for developing strategic plans, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The Head of Flood Risk will work closely with stakeholders to mitigate flood risks and enhance community resilience.

Main Duties

  • Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive flood risk management strategies. Lead a team of engineers and technical staff, setting goals and monitoring performance. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in flood risk management.
  • Technical Guidance and Expertise: Provide expert technical guidance on flood risk assessments, modelling, and mitigation. Review and approve technical reports, models, and analyses. Stay abreast of advancements in flood risk management technologies and methodologies.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, design, execution, and monitoring of flood risk projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications: Engineering or science related degree or equivalent, have chartered status with the ICE, CIWEM or a similar professional body with C.Eng Accreditation.
