Net Zero People are working with a leading multinational Renewable Power developer who are looking for the below.
The primary goal of this role is to support the strategy and identification of potential storage projects in specific countries by leveraging insights and analysis related to power systems and networks. The successful candidate will use their expertise in power systems to evaluate opportunities and challenges for storage initiatives at specific locations, identifying optimal connection points.

In addition, this role offers the chance to assist the Storage team with power market and policy analysis across various European markets. This analysis will help develop business cases for storage projects by assessing future revenue opportunities.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in power systems and networks who is eager to apply their skills in developing pipelines for low-carbon, flexible assets, while also expanding their strategic and commercial acumen.

Main Duties

  • Power System and Grid Analysis: Analyse power systems and transmission grid data to pinpoint locational advantages and limitations for potential storage projects.
  • Substation Evaluation: Assess substations to identify possible connection points, constraints, and associated costs.
  • Policy and Regulatory Review: Analyse European and UK policies and regulatory changes that influence power system management and network development, which could affect storage project opportunities.
  • Development Support: Advise country-specific development teams on relevant network considerations, including grid connection processes and applications.

Additional Main Duties

  • Battery Storage Expertise: Become a key resource for battery storage technology, providing insights into emerging technologies and cost trends to guide development strategy.
  • Market and Regulatory Analysis: Conduct power market and regulatory assessments to help build market-specific storage business cases.
  • Revenue Forecasting: Analyze third-party data to develop revenue forecasts and contribute to strategic summaries and financial models.
  • Revenue Stream Modelling: Create and refine revenue stream models for active markets, considering various scenarios and sensitivities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience with a Transmission System Operator (TSO), Distribution Network Operator (DNO), storage developer, or technical consultancy, specializing in power systems and networks.
  • Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, preferably engineering, providing a deep understanding of electrical networks and the ability to analyze complex datasets.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in IT, particularly with MS Excel, macros, and/or programming.
  • Analytical Ability: Capable of distilling complex analyses into clear hypotheses and conclusions.
  • Interest in Storage Technologies: A strong interest in storage technologies is essential, with technical specialization considered a plus.
  • Power Market Knowledge: Familiarity with power market fundamentals and storage revenue streams is advantageous, as is an understanding of power market modeling basics.
