This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering the NHS Race and Health Observatory's Perinatal Equity and Anti-Discrimination Programme (PEADP), a national programme commissioned by NHS England to address racism and discrimination in perinatal services across England. The Senior Implementation and Engagement Officer will provide hands-on programme support by coordinating workstreams, managing actions and documentation, supporting participating Trusts, monitoring attendance and engagement data, and helping ensure delivery is organised, responsive and evidence-informed. You will also provide engagement and communications support, drafting clear, inclusive and culturally responsive updates and materials for a range of audiences, while working closely with Observatory colleagues, delivery partners and external stakeholders to support a positive and accessible participant experience.
In the role, you will:
- Keep key programme workstreams moving at pace by coordinating actions, timelines, meetings and high-quality programme documentation.
- Build trusted relationships with participating Trusts, providing clear updates, responsive support and a positive, accessible engagement experience.
- Work closely with Trusts, delivery partners and colleagues to coordinate arrangements, resolve routine issues and escalate risks early.
- Turn attendance, engagement and activity data into useful insights that strengthen programme delivery and impact.
- Use the Observatory’s events management software and other digital tools to support smooth coordination, timely communications and seamless participant journeys.
- Create engaging, inclusive and culturally responsive communications, from stakeholder updates and briefings to newsletters, website copy and social media content.

About the NHS Race and Health Observatory
The NHS Race and Health Observatory is an independent organisation, set up to explore racial and ethnic inequalities in access to healthcare, experiences of healthcare, health outcomes, and inequalities experienced by Black and minority ethnic members of the health and care workforce. In doing so, it assesses aspirations in these areas as outlined in national healthcare policy, including those set-out in the NHS Long Term Plan. It is a proactive investigator, providing strong recommendations that inform policymaking and facilitate change. It is evidence-driven and solution-focused. The Observatory is supported by NHS England and is hosted by NHS Alliance. Its board and team are independent, and we dictate our own direction and areas of focus.
