About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely with our Registered Nurses and multidisciplinary team to provide high standards of care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. You will be comfortable working with patients who have life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families through challenging times. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable, but most importantly you'll share our values and demonstrate a caring, professional and positive approach to patient care.

  • Providing high-quality care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Supporting patients with their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care.
  • Monitoring patients' wellbeing and reporting any changes or concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assisting with moving and handling patients safely and appropriately.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, clean and supportive clinical environment.
  • Supporting the effective use of clinical equipment and resources.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in the care of patients and families following bereavement.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating clinical systems when required.
  • Supporting the induction and development of new team members.
  • Taking part in training and ongoing professional development.

What We're Looking For

  • NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare, or relevant healthcare experience.
  • Awareness and understanding of the needs of palliative care patients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Ability to work with patients living with life-limiting illnesses and their carers.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity.
