This position is based at Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Headquarters in Winsford, and forms part of the Service Improvement Department, which champions the effective use of business intelligence and risk information to enhance performance, inform decision‑making and ensure delivery of strategic priorities, as set out in the Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) 2024 – 2028.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled individual to join its Service Improvement Team, as the Corporate Risk Manager. This role is responsible for delivering the Service’s corporate risk management function, promoting a positive risk culture, and facilitating effective implementation of the Service’s Risk Management Framework, including strategy, policy, training, assurance, and reporting mechanisms.
Duties of this role include:
- Developing and delivering risk management guidance and tools
- Designing and facilitating risk management training and workshops
- Undertaking regular risk assurance reviews
- Exercising expert judgement to accurately present risk information to senior leaders
- Working with internal audit to gain third line assurance
- Publishing the Service’s annual risk management report
- Collaborating with other key business functions to ensure good governance and support continuous improvement
